LG NeON 2 Bifacial – a new LG solar milestone

LG Electronics has released its first bifacial solar module – the LG NeON 2 BiFacial – to the Australian market, pledging to increase energy yields by as much as 25% given ideal installation conditions.

Bifacial modules differ from traditional alternatives by utilising both sides of the panel to generate electricity. Incident light is captured on the back of the module by using translucent foil, boosting module performance in both ideal and sub-prime operating conditions.

The LG NeON 2 BiFacial is capable of outputs of up to 375W and also contains a silver anodized aluminium frame which reflects incident light to boost the panel’s efficiency.

Markus Lambert, head of LG Solar Australia said that the development of bifacial cells in a translucent panel product had taken LG’s technology “to the next level”.

“The bifacial cells can generate more power within a consistently small area, helping to boost efficiency and reduce the overall cost of a PV system. The LG NeON 2 BiFacial module raises the bar for the solar industry once more taking competition to the next level,” Lambert said.
